Wheaton History
Wheaton’s founders were Erastus Gary, Jesse Wheaton and Warren Wheaton. They offered the railroad several miles of free land. Rail workers made a sign that said “Wheaton Depot”—which gave the village its name. Wheaton was incorporated in 1859.
