Western Springs History

The first known settler in the area of Western Springs was Elijah Wentworth.  A large number of early residents were Quakers.  The CB&Q Railroad built a line through Western Springs in 1863, which drew more and more commuters.  The village was incorporated in 1886.

Local Transit

Railways

The BNSF Railway runs through Western Springs.  This rail provides residents with access to Metra (from Aurora to Chicago) and Amtrak (stops throughout the country).

 

Roads/ Highways

The main road in Western Springs is Ogden Ave/ US Route 34 (east-west).  I-294 is on the western border of town, which gives commuters easy access to Chicago and other areas.
