Romeoville History
Commissioners named the town after Romeo (Shakespeare’s romantic hero) because the neighboring village was names Juliet. When citizens of Juliet changed their name to Joliet, residents of Romeo changed theirs to Romeoville. Romeoville was officially incorporated in 1895.
