Oak Lawn History
In 1859 the government of Worth Township paid for the construction of Black Oak Grove Road (95th Street). Black Oak Grove is the earliest names for the area that would be Oak Lawn. In 1882 the post office, train depot and surrounding community became known as Oak Lawn. Oak Lawn officially became incorporated in 1909.

Oak Lawn has a Metra SouthWest Service station located on Tulley Ave, which runs from Manhattan to Chicago’s Union Station.
Oak Lawn also has a Pace bus that runs through town.
Roads/ Highways
The major streets that run through Oak Lawn are Cicero (north-south) and 95th (east-west). Oak Lawn is also conveniently close to i-294, which gives commuters easy access to Chicago and other areas.
