    LaGrange History

    The area around LaGrange was first settled in the 1830s.  Chicago residents started to move west because of the rapid population increase.  The village was incorporated in 1879.  It was founded by Franklin Dwight Cossitt.

    The Park District of LaGrange maintains 67 acres and 11 different parks.  They offer over 1500 recreational programs each year.

    Local Transit


    The BNSF Railway runs through LaGrange.  This rail provides residents with access to Metra (from Aurora to Chicago) and Amtrak (stops throughout the country).


    Roads/ Highways

    The two main roads in LaGrange are LaGrange Road (north-south) and Ogden Ave/ US Route 34 (east-west).  I-294 runs just west of town—which gives commuters easy access to Chicago and other areas.


    Pace provides a commuter bus service.
