Glen Ellyn History
The first landowner in Glen Ellyn was Deacon Winslow Churchill in 1834. In 1889 residents of the area built a dam in a nearby stream and created Lake Glen Ellyn. In 1891 Glen Ellyn was advertised as Chicago’s newest suburb and health resort. It was incorporated in 1892.
